Volunteering with CDNA

There are many ways in which you can be involved in giving to others and adding value to society what is a brief summary of what it is to be a volunteer, as it was once decribed by John Wilson: “Volunteering is a voluntary act of an individual or group freely giving time and labor, often for community service.»

We have a couple of experience that we would like to share as we believe that nothing better than first hand stories. So here we go with Alezander Castrellon…

I have had experience with CDNA and can assure you it was unforgettable. CDNA taugh about prevention in ITS in Comarca Ngäbe Bugle where I come from. They arrived and focused in this area of Public Health mainly because our government lacks the interest and strategy to do so while the youth are eager to receive information about it.

Moreover, CDNA motivates people to gain important experiences in different areas such as education, prevention against HIV, and others. One of these experiences I gained was giving capacitations in my community and sharing ideas about HIV prevention. When I started volunteering with this organization in 2018, they gave me a lot of tools, and those tools will never be forgotten because this organization is not only porting but also motivates people to do more for their communities as I am doing; they gave the mentality for doing a little bit more for my community.

Lastly, I am so motivated, thanks to CDNA’s support. To summarize, there is nothing better than doing good to bring happiness, and this organization deserves to be supported by a good future for our society.

I really enjoyed volunteering with CDNA; as an organization, I feel that it goes far beyond the services and programs that are currently available in rural Panama and that it fills an important gap where the government and community resources fall short of serving the people. What I loved about working with CDNA was the creative ways we worked with people and the connections that were made with individuals. We listened to them, found out about who they were, and adjusted our strategy of helping them so that they could help themselves. It was amazing to see how Amanda is helping shape Panama’s future society by creating connections with health professionals across the country and elegantly incepting them to work more effectively and compassionately to address the leading health concerns.
