Conserving the atmosphere and the species that live on Azuero’s coasts is another objective of our foundation, CDNA, and NIDA.
Sea turtle reproduction is in danger because harvesting is furtive, and illegal violations occur frequently throughout the coasts.
This is why we created a conservation project for the marine turtles on the coast of Azuero, with the help of the communities, ANAN, and international associations.

The project seeks to conserve these species and elevate tourism in the area. It focuses on creating turtle breeding grounds and educating the community, thus protecting and increasing the reproduction of these species.

Methodology:
- On October 10, 2010, a workshop on handling turtles was held at the beach of Cambutal.
- On November 10, 2010, “Boom Shiva Bungalows and Spa Resort” (boomshivapanama) donated a field to build several breeding grounds for turtles on the shores of Cambutal Beach. Subsequently, we organized the community for turtle egg harvesting throughout the coast.

Other activities made:
- On November 3, 2010, a workshop focusing on the conservation of marine turtles was celebrated in the elementary and high schools of Cambutal.
- On November 15, 2010, we collected our first eggs and took them to safer breeding grounds.
- The communities around the area met on January 14 – 15, 2011, to discuss ways to increase turtle agriculture.
